The car show at FryFest offered the perfect opportunity to go out and "test drive" my new Canon T2i. All those pretty shiny cars, I was absolutely spoiled for choice! These are the two that really caught my eye. Believe it or not, looking down the line of cars on show, it was the Mini Cooper that positively jumped out at you. Apparently Hawkeye Yellow trumps Corvette Red when it comes to sticking out in a crowd! (And I am a Prince fan. The Red Corvette was definitely not lost on me). Fred was obliging enough to pose for me for this photo. His Mini Clubman is up for sale and if you'd like to know more about that you can check it out on Craigslist.
Now onto my first thoughts about my Canon T2i. These shots are straight from the camera with no post editing done. The sun went behind a cloud for that first photo. I probably could have brightened it up, but I skipped that to show what great shots come with very little effort. I'm not totally thrilled with the somewhat blurry background, but considering these were my first shots with a new camera I should probably cut myself some slack. If you've got any tips for me feel free to leave them in the comments. I've been a point and shoot gal up to now. I can do with all the help I can get!

I'll take the WHITE t-bird in the FIRST/TOP photo * more of my generation!!! Great photos!
Nice photos Denise but I see what you mean re the " slightly blurry" background. From the little I understand as I'm moving up from my Kodak V570 Point and Shoot to my new Nikon D3000 the blurring of the background (which is great for some pictures that you want to accent the main focal point) is controlled by the aperture settings. A wide aperture setting blurs the background and a small aperture sharpens the whole scene. If that's any help!
I took some pics yesterday of a gorgeous log home for a new listing with the Nikon and will be getting them off the camera in a little bit. I also took pics with the Kodak as a backup!! I worked with the Kodak's last night and if I've failed with the Nikon we have enough good shots from the old and trusty Kodak. I have purchased a book for the Nikon D3000 to help explain a lot of what the small booklet that came with the camera doesn't.
You'll get it and the photo folks here on AR are very helpful.
Hi Wallace ~ Nice choice. Prince definitely sold me on the Corvette and that could only be topped by a Jaguar for me.
Robin and/or Sue ~ I played with the aperture a bit. It was a VERY windy day, so it wasn't helped by that. I haven't really studied the booklet too much yet. Too much small print for me. I think I may need to invest in something with larger print and a more down to earth way of explaining things. The trouble with the booklet is that they assume you have a basic knowledge, which of course I don't!
Good luck with your Nikon. Seems you're in the same boat as me right now. I had my SD800 with me for back up too.
Thank you all for your input. I appreciate it.
Denise, I think the photos are great. Of course, I "focused" on the cars. Now a yellow corvette would have gotten my vote.
Have a great Labor Day!
I've wanted a mini since my college days in London but I'm not a big fan of the Clubman, mini or MINI. I actually own a '68 Wolseley Hornet but it's not going to see the open road for a good long while <sigh>
Good luck with the new camera!
I would be taking the Corvette, the shots look good, I think it is so important to have a good camera, you'll see it will pay off for you.
This is so funny. I told my hubby a few years back I should get a yellow mini and here you have one for sale at an event in Iowa. The camera works well!
