Rain did not wash all the sand sculptures away on Friday. Resourceful Iowans managed to save their exhibits and the weekend continued without further ado at this year's Sand in the City event. I headed over yesterday afternoon, enjoyed some really excellent singing with the all male capella, Intersection. (I'm Welsh, that makes me a sucker for an all male choir - it's in the genes). Right after that I took some snaps of the wonderful exhibits from the Sand Sculpting Competition. Click here if you'd like to see the full-screen version of this slide show over at Picasa.

Hi Denise ~ That is so cool. There isn't a beach there right? - they brought in the sand? Very neat photos you got.
Liz
Absolutely right Liz. No beaches - this is Iowa. We're Landlocked... (Play on words there - we have the the Landlocked Film Festival this weekend Watch for my post later in the week...:-)
Glad I could impress you with the photos. Most of these folks had never done this before - I think they did a brilliant job, didn't they? So glad the sculptures survived the rains too. I was there on Friday and was a little worried that the rain would have a bigger impact than it did.
Denise,
These photos are fabulous. The artists could show many here on our beaches how to do this. I was glad to hear they made it through the rain!
Linda ~ It will come as no surprise to you that I thought of you when I posted these photos. This is the kind of thing one would expect in your neck of the woods and not necessarily in mine, isn't it?
That's the thing with Iowa City - A very creative little town!
Sand in the City! Now that looks like it must have been a fun time for all. Great job with the Picasa slideshow Denise.
Thank you Craig. High praise indeed from you - the agent with the coolest graphic presentations on AR.
I like Picasa because it allows me to upload really huge files for folks to view on their server. Best of all there's no sign in requirement. I hate signing up for anything and assume that anyone following me is likely to feel the same way. (Like minded individuals and all that).
