The Iowa Arts Festival is going on this weekend in Iowa City - These are some impressions through the eyes of my 6' 8" son. And no, before you ask, he does not play basketball! He gets asked that question A LOT... I can't think why... Don't we all know white men can't jump??
Anyway, getting back on topic. the Iowa Arts Festival, one of the highlights of our year, continues through tomorrow in downtown Iowa City. Sunday is Children's Day, offering lots of opportunities for kids to have fun with the arts. Head on down there. Between the culinary delights of the 19 (!) food vendors on culinary row, the music and an abundance of fine art work this is a wonderful family affair.
I don't suppose it will come as a surprise to anyone with a sense of humor to learn that surrounded by all that fine art work my son's favorite photo is the one with the cool dog...

Hi Denise - Cool dogs will always win in my book too. They're much more fun to play with than art!
Denise - I love community art and craft fairs. . .I wonder what these photos would look like from cool dog's perspective. . .LOL
Yep that cool dog definitely stole the show, didn't he? You have a point Myrl. I wonder what he was thinking as he was walking through the Iowa Arts Festival...:-)
Thank you both for stopping by.

Hi Denise ~ Great fun - and nice to have another photographer in the family. I tried to get my brother to be my photographer for my blog but it never took off.
How cool that you have such a tall son! I have a tall father and comparatively short mother. Growing up as the oldest I was taller for quite a while than my brothers - and my mother - and would lord my height over them at times. Well, they finally grew tall and took great delight in rubbing in how I had gone from being second tallest to second shortest.

PS - I confess that the cool dog would probably have been the highlight for me too. Love the shades!
Hi Liz ~ It is nice to have a second photographer in the family and of course his height gives him a whole different perspective on things. (I'm hoping he will make a habit of it:-)
I'm 5' 3", so Daniel was taller than me by the time he was 11 years old. You can only imagine the ribbing I took. He's also taller than his older brother, which as you can also imagine went over real well when they were younger! I probably don't need to elaborate, you seem to have had your own experiences and will know exactly what I'm talking about.
That dog is something else, isn't it? All that culture and the dog steals the show.... Photos of animals/pets will do that every time, don't you think?

Hi Denise, Cool Dog Wins. Easy to understand that. Love the sun glasses so does the dog apparently. Dogs actually do need them I understand but few get them.
That is one cool pooch. Looks like a good time was had by all. Love a good local art show.
Interesting William. I did not think about whether the dog actually needed the sunglasses.
Julia ~ We were lucky, we had a lot of rain Friday night and then it cleared up yesterday. This is an event you REALLY need good weather for. Today the sun's out for Children's Day - fingers crossed it stays that way so they can have fun face painting and all that good stuff!

Excellent post! I agree with John comments above! I love cool dog and I love art too!
Thanks for sharing,
