Today was a good day. Continuing ed classes this morning with Darryl Davis were extremely motivating, despite the dark and dismal, reminiscent of Hamburg weather.... And then this afternoon I pulled into the gas station to fill up my car and flags blowing in the wind caught my eye. The sky was grey as could be, but the colors were eye catching and my little country flag was right there, front and centre. Yes, I'm from Wales and most folks I talk to have trouble locating it on a map! I think I might be a tiny bit biased, but I think we do have one cool flag... What say you?

Don't you just love how all these flags "posed" for this photo?

Great photo Denise!! My 2nd grade teacher was originally from Scotland. I remember her saying, "England, Ireland, Scotland and Wales...four little puppy dogs without any tails!" Not sure the origin of that statement, but it sure was memorable!! :)
I imagine you would remember that Sonja, it really does rhyme nicely, although beats me what the origin is.

Hi Denise ~ Neat picture! One branch of my family trees is from Wales - someday I'll get back to genealogy and learn more. And that is one cool flag! A CE class with Darryl Davis - pretty nifty!
Liz
Wales definitely has one of the more unique world flags. Nice shot to get all of the flags to display so well; shooting in the wind can be really tricky.
Hi Liz ~ Yes I did have a pretty good day and these flags blowing so uniformly for me just about took the cake... I was out with clients this week who had been to Cardiff and our flag came up. It was funny that right after that this shot presents itself!
Darryl Davis was awesome. His bestseller was the first book I read when I got into real estate. CE class was about the last thing I had time for this week, but I took the time, because I knew this wouldn't come around again in a hurry. (It was his first time in Iowa too, so I was right about that).
Hi John ~ Like so many other examples in life, the spontaneous shot often works out best. It was amazing how well they lined up - I couldn't have planned it better!

Your flag is fabulous and the country and people wonderful. I love all the beautiful singing in Wales. I once flew back from London on a plane carrying some rugby players. Big brutes who sang the whole way home and entertained the plane with no complaints! It was wonderful!
Hi Marcia ~ That's a fabulous story and of course it doesn't surprise me one little bit. The English joke about the Welsh that if you have more than 2 people stood at a bus stop they're likely to burst into song....:-)
My brother played rugby when he was younger too and yes of course he sings. As did my father, who sang publicly while he was in the army and still had a wonderful voice in his 70's when he left us. There's a reason Wales is called the Land of Song and that's not likely to change as you found on that flight!
Thanks for the lovely story. It kindled some fond memories for me too.

Hi Denise - Your flag makes me think of the castles of Europe in medieval times - Love it!
Debi
Hi Debi ~ I loved the roof line too. This is the Cantebury Inn, Coralville. Quite clearly the image you have is exactly the one they are trying to conjure up - You have to give them credit for doing a great job!
Denise
What a wonderful post! I do agree with Debi comment above! Beautiful picture!
Thanks for sharing.

Denise - great photo of the flags, and yes I concur that Wales does have a very beautiful flag.
Denise - I've always been fascinated by the history and lore of Wales! I also love Cornish pasties!
Great flag photos Denise. I often wonder when I snap pictures of random things what the people staring at me taking the photo are thinking! The best is when I tell them I'm a realtor, they look at me even crazier!! LOL!!!
How wonderful to get so many comments on my flag post.
Thank you for being so nice Adam - And you too Sharon.
I love cornish pasties too Myrl - although I miss chips with salt and vinegar more.:-)
Funny thing Gina, but I was so taken with the flags that, (unusually), I didn't pay any attention to anyone else at the gas station. I'm sure they must have thought I was a bit odd!
