Best of Area List: Readers of the Press Citizen Vote on the Best Aspects of the Greater Iowa City, Coralville Area

Best of the Area List: Press Citizen readers vote on some of the best things about the Iowa City and Coralville area, including North Liberty and Solon.

The Press Citizen posted the results to its annual citizen vote on the Best of the Area at the weekend.
Iowa City Jazz Festival 2009-Photo by Howard Horan It includes 60+ categories ranging from Restaurants and Food to Shopping and Services, Arts and Entertainment, Kid Stuff, Outdoor and Facilities for Seniors. They also had a special category for the most influential person in the area and from my last post you know that is Kirk Ferentz, our oh so popular coach of the Iowa Hawkeye Football Team.

Below is a list of about a dozen of what I think are the most interesting to anyone relocating to the Iowa City area.
If you're not a first timer to my posts you will know I relocated to Iowa City myself 10 years ago. I know what interested me at the time, plus of course I know the interests of clients I've helped find homes in the Iowa City area, so I'm working from that too...

Best financial institution in the area: Hills Bank

Best live entertainment venue: The Mill
Check out their calender on the website and you'll see they've got a lot going on there this week.

Joe's Place also took the best bartender vote for Rob Boulter

Best biking trail: Sugar Bottom Recreational Area located between North Liberty and Solon

Best bike shop: World of Bikes

Best place to enjoy nature: Lake Macbride

Best outdoor store: Fin & Feather

The largest category was restaurants
and since it didn't seem fair to pick one over another for this post I decided to take the easy way out and let you know who makes the the best pizza in town. That would be  A & A Pagliai in Iowa City. Here's link to the full list of the best aspects of the Greater Iowa City-Coralville area It also includes info on the runners up.

Now of course it goes without saying, we have a lot more to offer in the Iowa City area than just the 60+ categories on this list.
All this does is give you a tiny slice of what's available in a very diverse area with a real abundance of opportunities and options. The Greater Iowa City-Coralville area is really an exceptional place to live (and work) as you will see when you follow my posts in the coming months.
